| The 1969 Le Mans race saw a titanic battle between the Porsche 908L driven by Hans Herrmann and Gérard Larousse and the John Wyer Ford GT40 of Jacky Ickx and Jackie Oliver. For the last three hours of the race these two cars ran in close proximity, as here, often exchanging the lead every lap. The win finally went to the Ford, but only by about 100 yards. What a finish! |
