Other Variations

At the 1960 Monaco Grand Prix two new American entries appeared. These were the Scarab F.1 cars owned by Lance Reventlow, son of the Woolworth stores heiress Barbara Hutton, and driven by Reventlow and Chuck Daigh. Here are both Scarabs in the pits during practice, Daigh standing next to #48 in the foreground. The Scarabs were beautifully turned out and were powered by specially prepared 2.5 liter engines derived by Leo Goosen of Meyer-Drake from their Offenhauser engines.
