| The American driver Dan Gurney in the Ferrari 250TR which he shared with Tony Brooks. Gurney brought the car to fifth position. Brooks meanwhile had taken over the Olivier Gendebien and Cliff Allison car and just missed second place by two seconds (after six hours!), due in part to a mistake in lap-counting by the Ferrari pits. Had he succeeded, Ferrari would have defeated Aston Martin for the sports car World Championship. |
