| The start: Mike Hawthorn’s Ferrari is on pole with the Vanwalls of Stirling Moss and Stuart Lewis-Evans next to him. Moss won and set fastest lap, but Hawthorn finished second and thereby won the Championship from Moss by one point. Poor Lewis-Evans crashed and was badly burned and died a few days later. |
