| Carroll Shelby with Alan Guiberson in the latter’s Ferrari 375MM, which Carroll had just driven to victory in his first appearance in California. Alberto Ascari and Nino Farina had won the 1953 Nürburgring 1000km. in this car and the following year it had finished second in the Carrera Panamericana in the hands of Phil Hill and Richie Ginther. |
