| At the start René Arnoux's Renault RE20 is slightly ahead of Alan Jones' Williams FW07 which has burst out of the second row. Jones played a waiting game versus the powerful Renaults and would finish second to Arnoux's teammate Jean-Pierre Jabouille after Arnoux had tire problems, dropping to ninth at the finish. |
