The Monaco Grand Prix; Monte Carlo, May 14, 1961
Reference #: 61D3B-29

The start! Former Grand Prix great Louis Chiron has dropped the tricouleur and the field surges forward toward the Gazomètre hairpin. The privately-entered Lotus of Stirling Moss, who will win this important race, is on pole at the left with the Ferrari 156/F1 of Richie Ginther in the middle and the factory Lotus 21 of Jim Clark on the right. Ginther drove very well to finish second (he had the better 120º V6) ahead of his old friend and coming World Champion Phil Hill.
