The start of the sports car race with a front row full of Astons in front of the wonderful Aintree grandstands used also for the Grand National steeplechase race. Closest to the camera is Peter Collins, then Peter Walker and Roy Salvadori. The nose of Reg Parnell’s Aston is just visible in the second row. In spite of an early challenge from Mike Hawthorn’s Jaguar D-type, the Aston’s finished in the top four positions, with Salvadori winning.
