| Here is a classic shot of Fangio in the Alfa Romeo 159 clipping the grass edge of the track on the back section of the ultra-fast Reims circuit during the French Grand Prix. In this period the drivers still wore cotton or silk head coverings: helmetshad not yet become compulsory. Klemantaski again caught Fangio’s almost mystical expertise: he was always more precise with his car placement at high speed than anyone else and his results provedit. Once again, he won, but had to take over Luigi Fagioli’s Alfa to do it. |
