| Before the start. Juan Manuel Fangio in quiet concentration is about to climb aboard, while Peter Collins and Eugenio Castellotti are all ready to go. Beyond Castellotti is the Maserati which Stirling Moss will bring in to second place at the end. Both Collins and Castellotti retired their original cars with mechanical problems and then crashed when they took over the cars of Alfonso de Portago and Luigi Musso. |
