The famous French driver Jean-Pierre Wimille with his works-entered 4.7 liter Bugatti, winning the over two-liter class. This car was one of two Type 59 chassis retained at Bugatti and had eventually been fitted with a Type 50B engine. It last appeared at the Grand Prix du Bois du Boulogne, one of the very first postwar races, in September 1945.
